Our violin program is open
to students grades 3rd thru 6th. Violin is taught in group
sessions of up to 12 students for each level- beginning, intermediate
and advanced. Students learn the following.
Beginning:
- Name & parts of the violin
and bow
- Name of the strings
- Playing “pizzicato” and “arco”
- Reading notes
- Technique and rhythm
- Ear-training
Intermediate & Advanced
- More
advanced sight-reading
- Using the fourth finger
- Vibrato
- Counter Point
- Theory & Technique
All students must provide their own instrument and music books.
Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes. The cost is a one-time
fee of $50. Violin students have many opportunities to perform.
All students are invited to the end of the year recital, which
is held in combination with the piano students. Again, students
have the convenience of learning on campus during school hours.
